Listed as a “Historic Cultural Monument” by the Los Angeles Cultural Heritage Commission, the Los Angeles Railway Huron Substation was built in 1906-08 and is the second oldest surviving substation in the city. The building formerly housed equipment to convert high-voltage electricity to the 600 volts used by the L.A. Railway’s “Yellow Cars.”

In fact, here’s how keen House Crazy Sarah’s eye is for unique spaces: she recognized this building’s interior to be very similar to one shown in one of her favorite movies. She checked with the listing agent and sure enough, this was Jake’s living quarters in the movie Must Love Dogs.

The building’s official website states:

The substation has lent its character to numerous film locations for feature film and television shoots, such as “Secretary”, “Must Love Dogs”, “Fast & Furious”, “Catwoman”, “The Kids Are Alright”, “Date Night”, “Heroes”, “NCIS“, “Major Crimes“ and many pilots.
