Old house lovers! Look at this gorgeous brick beauty in Auburn, New York. She was built in 1861 at the very onset of the American Civil War.
The architect-designed Gothic Revival mansion was constructed for wealthy banker James Seymour with the finest materials his money could buy.
Currently, she is a little worse for the wear having been neglected for years and foreclosed on earlier in 2019.
But the city of Auburn came up with a creative plan: they put the property up for auction in mid December for the price of a mere $50,000. All offers were required to come with a detailed restoration/use plan. The city will now carefully consider each plan and vote on the best one.
What a great idea – this house is worth saving!
Look at the gorgeous windows and doors.
And original light fixtures…
There’s something haunting about these photos…
The top floor has considerable water damage, but look at the intriguing roof lines:
Below is House Crazy Sarah’s favorite part of the entire house:
The servant’s staircase nook.
Such beauty in decay!
Despite the rough state of the interior, the exterior is in remarkably good condition – look at the brick:
There’s even a carriage house out back.
Sure she needs some TLC, but how amazing will this place be when restored to her former glory?
