This isn’t the famous lakeside home of Johnny and June Cash that was completely destroyed by fire in 2007. This is the home across the road that he bought for his parents.

Below are the ruins of Johnny’s burnt-out home on Old Hickory Lake:

And in this photo, you can see the home he bought for his parents just across the street:

So even though it’s not technically Johnny Cash’s personal home, it’s all we have left that we can tie to him as a residence.

After all, he did purchase it for his beloved parents and he even stayed here in the months before his death.

There is a plaque by the front door that proclaims the home to be the “Mama Cash House“.

The “Mama Cash House” is now listed for sale $845,000.

As the plaque explains, this home was a gathering place for the Cash family clan.

The approximately 3,000-square-foot ranch house sits on one acre and has four bedrooms and three bathrooms.

Come on in!

The Mama Cash Home was built in 1963.

Interestingly, the current owners restored the home to how it looked when Carrie and Ray Cash lived there.

A touching tribute to June and Johnny Cash:

You can almost see them standing there!

The house is highly unusual in that no room is square.

Apparently, Mama Cash Carrie died in this very kitchen.

Years later, Johnny and June Carter Cash would spend their final days in this house.

Look at the retro appliances:

There is also a music studio where several of Johnny Cash’s last songs were recorded.

A preserved mid-century bathroom:

Covered patio:

This is a superb mid-century specimen, with a huge added bonus of having a country super star connection.

Hopefully the next owner preserves the home and Cash family memorabilia for many years to come.
