The House On The Hill In Astoria, Oregon

Look at this beautiful lady perched on a hill in the quaint town of Astoria, Oregon.

This 1892 home is currently listed for sale for $625,000.

Astoria is located at the mouth of the Columbia River near the Pacific Ocean – hence the line of ocean freighters you can see in the listing photos.

As the oldest American settlement west of the Rocky Mountains, the town of Astoria has close historical ties to the Lewis & Clark Trail. In 1811, John Jacob Astor, a New York financier, sent fur traders west to establish the trading post of Fort Astoria.

But Astoria is probably best known as the filming location for the 1985 teen adventure flick The Goonies. The famous Goonies house is located just a few blocks from this home.

This impeccable dwelling has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms in 1,837 square feet.

Luckily, this house is accessible from a lane behind it (so you wouldn’t have to lug groceries up those steep steps from the street).

Inside, the home has been emptied out and only minimally staged, but it is the water views that take center stage.

Notice the original stained glass highlights in the windows.

This is a fabulous house for boat watchers.

Beyond the living room is the formal dining room.

And beyond the dining room is the kitchen.

The kitchen is light, bright, and spacious, but sadly, no original features remain.

There is one bedroom suite on the main floor.

Upstairs, there are original hardwood floors and banisters painted a rich brown to offset the light-painted walls.

The spectacular water views continue on the second floor.

One of the rooms has an adorable bathroom suite.

The drone photos in the listing showcase the spectacular Pacific Northwest scenery.

Watching those big boats go by all day would be addicting!
