Some escapism is in order!
What better place to transcend the dreary day than this quaint boutique hotel in Paris that feels as though it is set in the French countryside?

The Hôtel des Grandes Écoles is located in the 5th arrondissement of Paris, in the heart of the Latin Quarter, near the left bank of the Seine.

You’d never guess by looking at it, but the hotel actually has private underground parking.
The name translates in English to: Hotel of the Great Schools – so named because it is near several universities.

The main building dates back to the 19th century as a family estate.
The hotel was established in 1927 as a guesthouse that hosted professors and students from the nearby schools.

Over time, the guesthouse transformed into a full-fledged hotel beloved by returning guests and long-time staff alike.
In fact, several members of the staff have worked at the hotel for decades, including Dorotha who has been in charge of breakfast for over 35 years!
The hotel’s current owner – Alexandre – first worked here as a receptionist over 20 years ago.

The Hôtel des Grandes Écoles consists of historic buildings situated around a central courtyard. This configuration only adds to the private country feel of the place.

Guest testimonials say that street noise can barely be heard from the rooms.

Let’s have a look inside this picture-perfect Parisian hotel.

Guests are greeted by a friendly French receptionist.
Beyond the lobby and reception area is an intimate dining room.

What a quaint place to share a romantic meal with un être cher.

Now, let’s take a tour of some of the 51 guest rooms – the heart and soul of this charming place.

Ground floor rooms offer French doors opening to a cobblestone patio with bistro tables.

Upper floor rooms feature Juliet balconies that frame lush greenery and courtyard views.

The rooms are each individually decorated in the provincial style of the building, emanating a country essence with toile de Jouy print wallpaper, antique wood furniture, and patinaed bronze light sconces.

Guests enjoy the following amenities: Wi-Fi connection, queen-size beds, private bathroom, shower, bathtub, and various complimentary toiletries.
One notable absence from this hotel: none of the rooms have a television.

But really, who needs the natter and neon of a TV when you have these enchanting views from such peaceful pods?

Although the rooms are carefully kept in a historic fashion, rest assured, the bathrooms have been updated.

A couple of the guest rooms have these delightful oval windows.

They are all so sweet – how could one possibly choose a favorite?

The historic details in the rooms are fabulous…

It’s about as dreamy French country as you can get – right in the heart of Paris.

And since this is Paris, we would be remiss not to mention the wonderful petit déjeuners that hotel guests can indulge in.

In the fairer weather, guests can dine in the courtyard.

The hotel even has a friendly resident kitty named Lutèce.

So friends, just remember, when life seems bleak and hopeless, there is always a charming little place to go that welcomes weary souls with warm croissants, fresh-cut flowers, and soft warm beds.

Where everything seems right in the world, once again.

Looks great. Is it close enough to walk to some shops and restaurants? I have a toddler and looking for a safe area. Is it suitable for young families?
