Not only is this place overflowing with Nordic charm, it was also once home to a legendary local folk hero named Jordmor Jensine.
Located in Eidsdal, Norway this quaint home is infused with the protective spirit of “Jensine the midwife” who is thought to guard the region and its inhabitants.
Local lore tells of a cold, dark January night some 140 years ago when news of a difficult impending birth reached the midwife Jensine. She immediately gathered her medical supplies and made the treacherous journey over four mountains and fjords – from Eidsdal to Norddal, Tafjord, and Muldal – and arrived just in time to save both mother and infant. The hike is known today as “The Midwife’s March” (jordmormarsj) and people gather every year to celebrate the bravery of Jensine.
The home is only known to date back to 1920 so Jensine the midwife probably did not live here during her epic life-saving walk over the mountains, but she did reportedly live here in her later years.
Jensine’s former home is currently listed for sale.
So anyone who buys this home – priced at approximately $143,000 (USD) – will share the space with the kindly spirit of Jensine.
