This house is so much fun!
Located in Portsmouth, Virginia, this 1950s home has been meticulously staged in the era of Leave It To Beaver.
Ms. Carly NiƱo is the queen responsible for this creative endeavor that like-minded retro lovers can now rent as an Airbnb.
Here’s the home’s Airbnb write-up:
“Travel back in time to the mid-50s in this meticulously curated immersive experience. Upon your arrival enjoy a classic coke, make a phone call from the retro rotary phone, put on a record, or play an original 50s board game. Flip through some vintage photos for inspo, then do your own photoshoot using items from the clothes closet! Later, make a recipe from one of the recipe books, or a simple J-ellO mold from the pantry. Bring your cameras and get ready for some vintage, kitschy fun!”
Records and a rotary phone? This is a dream come true for those of us who love all things old and fabulous!
The quaint mid-century bungalow has 3 bedrooms and 1 bathroom and was decorated by Carly to replicate the ideal 1950’s suburban home, complete with entirely vintage or period-appropriate furniture, appliances, and bric-a-brac.
Carly envisioned this house to be a typical mid-50s family home with the nuclear four: mom, dad, and two kids: a boy who loves all things Western, and a girl who loves pink & poodles.
Love the retro dinette set!
The period cabinetry is pure sweetness.
In every room, the 1950s details will thrill visitors – right down to the pink toilet paper in the bathroom.
Have a look in the time-capsule bedrooms…
Some of the furniture and photos in the “master” predate the 1950’s but that is the way it actually would have been back then: mom and dad’s bedroom would have the heirloom pieces passed down from their parents, and on display would be photos of family from decades past.
The attention to detail is remarkable!
The kids’ rooms are more in the contemporary 50’s style…
The boy’s room is what you would expect for a kid in the Western-loving 1950s…
This house really is an immersive experience – come play, dress up, and stay for a spell!
