If you are a fan of the Art Deco movement, then you will appreciate the David Malouf House in Brisbane, Australia.
The house is named for the Australian author David Malouf who lived here for a number of years and wrote some of his most famous works here.
David Malouf – b. 1934
The home is located at 19 Arran Avenue, Hamilton, in Brisbane, Australia, not far from the Brisbane river.
“Malouf House” was actually commissioned by the father of David Malouf and constructed by the architect firm Pidgeon Commercial in 1947.
The unique home is built on three levels with a double brick exterior in the Art Deco style
Not only is the house filled with original Art Deco details, but the award-winning writer even left his name engraved in one of the cabinets in the home!
Renovated in 1991 and again in 2012 by architect Philip Horwood, the vintage features and modern amenities have been expertly intertwined.
Some of the most striking elements are the beautiful leadlight windows and doors.
The contemporary-styled kitchen has rosewood cabinetry and Brazilian granite countertops.
Off the kitchen is an outdoor terrace – one of several attached to the home.
In addition to all the windows and terraces, the home has no less than eight skylights.
The Malouf House features 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
Out the stunning leadlight double doors, is another gorgeous exterior space.
Each of the 3 levels has an outdoor area.
But it is the preserved Art Deco elements that are the star of this show.
