House Crazy Sarah wasn’t sure how to title this post…. from the outside this stately Lynchburg, Virginia home looks traditional and well kept.
The inside, however, veers into the territory of quirkiness.
Giraffe in the foyer? Eclectic, to say the least.
It’s not unattractive…. just unexpected.
Black walls? The decorator of this home must be a strong believer in the ubiquitous little black dress theory because black is the go-to color throughout the home.
Built in 1901 in Lynchburg’s historic Rivermont neighborhood, this elegant Victorian home is currently for sale for $325,000.
Despite all the black, it is chock full of character.
The home has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms in over 2,700 square feet.
House Crazy Sarah is not a big fan of black in old houses, but somehow, it actually works in this particular home.
Maybe it works because of the abundant pops of color or the fun and unexpected decor items.
One could never be bored walking through this mesmerizing home – there’s just so much to look at!
The kitchen might be a bit much though…
The bright accent colors are cute, but the black shiny cabinets against the matte black walls feel almost… oppressive.
The redeeming factors in this room are those gorgeous windows that bathe the space in sunlight.
Even in the rooms that are more traditional, black is ever-present.
The bedrooms do go in a bit of a different direction with dark indigo blue walls…
The color is attractive against the crisp white painted woodwork.
It seems the decorator understood that all-black walls in bedrooms might be a bit too Draculian for a peaceful night’s sleep.
From the looks of some of these imported pieces, it also seems the owners may be world travelers who appreciate many different types of beauty.
There are so many fabulous one-of-a-kind pieces in this home, it really is delightful to view.
Although the decor may not be everyone’s cuppa tea, there is no question that this well-kept home is a jaw-dropper.
Hopefully, the sellers can find new owners who appreciate the current aesthetic because that is an awful lot of black to paint over!

Lovely home. Paired with the white it’s ok. Not my choice to have so much black but the bedrooms are a good break. Definitely wouldn’t have put black in the kitchen as well but to each is own I guess.
