House Crazy Sarah is enamored with these pseudo-photos of houses sailing through mid air.
France based photographer Laurent Chehere is the artist/magician behind these captivating images.
Chehere takes Parisian homes and urban apartment buildings and yanks them out of their expected neighborhood backdrops and then sets them hovering in the clouds.

These “photomontages” are part digital, part analog and are often a collection of various images spliced together.
The result is a dreamlike alternative universe with all manor of dwellings telling various non-nonsensical stories – a lot like House Crazy Sarah’s house dreams!
Chehere’s flying houses series is said to be a metaphor for travel… and other stuff.
On his website, Chehere explains that his work is influenced by the likes of Jules Verne, Federico Fellini, Martin Scorsese, Jean Cocteau and many more.
Other inspirations include the artist’s wanderings in the hidden neighborhoods of Paris and also his love of cinematic history.
Each image is like a mini film-noir story, complete with subtle, sometimes opposing, cultural references.
The Flying Houses were published in a book by Kehrer Editions in 2018. (Helpful Hint: House Crazy Sarah’s birthday is coming up soon!)
Interestingly, Laurent Chehere began his career doing commercial work for major clients such as Audi and Nike, but after a change of heart he left the corporate world of advertising and indulged in his fantastical whims.
And we are so glad he did!
House Crazy Sarah thinks these whimsical disembodied houses & buildings are the cat’s meow.
Bravo monsieur Chehere!
