This is an amazing transformation!
Although the house is not that old (built in 1981), the interior was dated and in rough shape after having sat empty for 4 years before it went on the market.
Thankfully it was rescued by the current owners who fell in love with its charm and then embarked on an epic renovation. They did ALL of the work themselves on a shoestring budget which makes the home’s transformation even more incredible.
Here’s the BEFORE of that same room:
Quite the difference!
House Crazy Sarah isn’t going to tell you where this house located just yet. When she found out, she was shocked. So let’s look at the pictures first and then she will reveal its whereabouts.
The homeowners tell House Crazy Sarah that a man and his wife built the house together in the early 1980’s but he left after 8 years. The wife stayed here by herself for another 20 years and was quite a recluse. (House Crazy Sarah can relate!)
But the woman kept the house in 1980’s fashion with pink walls, purple carpet and dark accent wood. The new owners have infused fresh light and energy into this home.

Now the house is open and bright and the decor feels timeless and elegant.
Here’s a closer look at that gorgeous barn door:
And how about the unique rustic light fixtures?
Easy-peasy! Just an old 2×4 rigged with some bulbs hung on wires. Brilliant!

How stunning! It’s like the Secret Garden.
Any guesses where this lush property is located? The Pacific Northwest? Oregon, Washington State? The Black Forest region of Germany? Bavaria? The Austrian Alps?
Nope. This enigma is located in the Adelaide Hills of South Australia.Â
Yes – REALLY!
The owners have an Instagram page that documents the work they have done. Check it out: https://www.instagram.com/boho_tudor_reno_love/
Bravo to a lot of blood, sweat and tears and the love of a special place!
