Hey it’s October! You know what that means… creepy old houses on display at HouseCrazySarah.life!

This one is not actually abandoned, well at least not anymore. It was abandoned in the 1990’s and fell into disrepair, which makes it really cool to look at today. Some history lovers came together and formed the group Friends of White Hill Mansion and rescued the home. They now do tours of the creepy old house to help pay for her restoration.
Back in her glory days, White Hill Mansion was quite a beauty…
Today, she’s a little worse for the wear…
But there’s a certain appeal to her decline and decay, as evidenced in how much she is photographed in this sad state.

White Hill Mansion in Fieldsboro, New Jersey sits in a prominent spot overlooking the Delaware River. The house began as a one-room structure way back in 1723. Three generations of one family lived in the home and added on over the years, transforming the house into a large mansion.
The property was lost to debt by the third generation, then it passed through several other private owners. From 1923 to 1972, the home was used as an upscale German restaurant. It was sold a couple more times and in the 1990’s the home was eventually abandoned. It was set to be demolished when the Borough of Fieldsboro stepped in and bought the mansion.
Today the Friends of White Hill Mansion give guided tours of this 300 year old home to old house lovers and ghost hunters because… it’s haunted too! Of course it is!
House Crazy Sarah LOVES that they keep the house in its decaying state, complete with creepy old furniture, nasty carpet, and peeling paint.
It’s so much more interesting than a careful period restoration. House Crazy Sarah loves when you can touch and feel organic history.
Even the nasty bathrooms are intriguing to view…
Whoever strategically placed those lonely chairs in otherwise empty rooms is brilliant. It just feels so darn ominous!
Fun fact: this old girl was once used as a bordello AND a speakeasy. Luckily she was saved from the wrecking ball so she can be reincarnated once again.
