It’s hard to identify exactly why vintage dolls are so creepy. Could it be the frozen facial expressions…
The unbalanced proportions…
Or just deterioration from age?
Perhaps it is a combination of all these things.
Good Lord! How could these nasty dolls ever have brought joy to children?
These baby dolls are terrifying!
Each of these antique dolls could be at the center of a horror movie.
Have a look at some even older dolls – dolls that were handmade because they predate the industrial revolution…
There is something particularly disturbing about these primitive dolls.
Some are so crudely made by hand, it is amazing they survived for centuries.

Not all dollies were white. No, many were made to reflect the darker skin tones of the children who played with them.
No matter their color, these primitive dolls are endlessly frightful.
