House Crazy Sarah has long been smitten with the Alps. Snow capped mountains, rich creamy food, adorable chalets, hiney-hugging Lederhosen. What’s not to love?
When she came across Hotel Schweizerhof Santa Maria located in Val Mustair, Switzerland, she fell in love all over again.
The Hotel & Restaurant Schweizerhof dates back over 110 years.
Situated in a picturesque mountain valley in what UNESCO has designated the Val Müstair biosphere area, the pristine setting is a sight to behold.
You can almost hear The Sound of Music echoing from a few peaks over!
The hotel website in translation says:
“The flair of the Belle Epoch has been preserved: the spaciousness of the rooms, the particularity of the ambiance and many gems of the time whisk you away into a mood of deceleration and inspiration.”
Isn’t that lovely? 🙂
The Hotel Schweizerhof is a traditional Swiss hotel full of luxury and history. It is furnished with antiques of the last century and is both cozy and grand.
The “social rooms” invite guests to linger – filled with a variety of classical books, tables with mill and chess inlays, pianos, and comfortable wing chairs.
Look at some of the antique pieces on display:
The dining room is also splendid with century old chandeliers, coffered ceilings, and herringbone wood floors…
Let’s take a peek inside one of the private room suites…
Completely charming and oh so Swiss.
The view out that window!
Even the old doors are appealing:
Fun fact about Switzerland: Albert Einstein invented the famous equation E=MC2 while he was in Switzerland.
Must be something in the pure mountain air.
Are you ready to pack up with House Crazy Sarah and spend some time at this dreamy Swiss hotel?
Let’s go!
