Today we are checking out this one-of-a-kind Canadian castle. Known as Château Bahia, this interesting grouping of turrets and towers is currently listed for sale for $650,000 CAD.
The countryside property is located near the town of Escuminac, Quebec, on the Gaspé Peninsula near the New Brunswick border.
There are actually three separate buildings on the property with a whopping 16 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms. The place comes fully furnished complete with a tower library filled with books! LOVE!
The property was designed and used as a hostel/inn for many years but the builder/owner is now retiring and wants to pass the Castle on to new hands.
How fun would it be to stay in such a unique dwelling? Or to OWN it?
The main building even includes a grand dining hall:

Here is the dining hall filled with guests and candle light:
This place would make a great event center!
The owner Jean Roussy and his father started construction on the castle in 1983. They continued adding on to it until 1999.
But what would possess a man to do such a thing?
“On April 9th, 1976 at 444 Gilford Street, I said to some friends : ‘I’m going to build a castle’. This idea stuck and seven years later I started to build my dream castle.” Roussey is quoted as saying.
Whether it was a drunken rant or a divine inspiration, true to his word, Roussey built his dream castle.
The 16 bedrooms are pretty basic but all are different shapes and sizes, thanks to the odd tower configurations.
Some of the rooms even have outdoor spaces with decks and balconies.
The higher up you are, the better water views you get.
Château Bahia would be a fun place for a destination wedding, family reunion, or work retreat.
Think of the possibilities… somebody buy this place!
$650,000 Canadian dollars is not a bad price for this massive place. That’s only about $496,000 in American dollars with the current exchange rate.
Even in the deep Canadian winters, Château Bahia is enchanting.
It looks like a gingerbread house castle!
