Come friends, have a look at House Crazy Sarah’s house all prettied up for Christmas…
This year is extra special because it is House Crazy Sarah’s first Christmas in her new Canada house, which she has named Maple Cottage.
Her daughter started bugging her the day after Halloween to put up Christmas decorations, but House Crazy Sarah made them wait until after Remembrance Day/Veterans Day out of respect.
Then, by the middle of November, they had their full-on Christmas house!
This year, House Crazy Sarah’s 12-year-old daughter wanted to take the lead in decorating, so the assertive little thing ordered HCS and the teenage boy around like a tyrannical boss. We weren’t allowed to touch anything unless we had the boss girl’s approval.
The teenaged boy devolved into walking around like a zombie with garland wrapped around his head & body, much to the consternation of the girl in charge. But all in all, it was a fun time.
This old 1919 house is a fantastic Christmas house, and the centerpiece of it all is the charming original fireplace.
How sweet it is to be able to hang stockings from the mantel!
Some of the decorations were hand-made by the boss-girl (she is very talented & creative).
The boss-girl loves Christmas and she loves snow – both of which are in abundance this year because we are in Canada.
In fact, we have already gotten more snow than House Crazy Sarah’s kids have seen in their entire lives!
(That’s the hot tub buried under mounds of snow that fell in November).
Back inside, House Crazy Sarah and her kids cherish sitting in the living room with a warm fire and the twinkle lights of Christmas.
Everything looks and feels so festive!
The boss-girl even gave the kitchen some Christmas treatment by placing bows in various places.
How to Christmas-i-fy any space: put a bow on it!
And of course, the HCS clan did their yearly gingerbread house building tradition:
It was an hour of arguing and funning and rotting of teeth from eating too much of the candies. But it’s that time spent together in their new/old house that is so very precious.
From me and all my critters, have a delightfully Merry Christmas and a divinely Happy Holidays!

Happy Holidays Sarah!
