Just another fabulous old school turned into a massive mansion!
Located in Latah, Washington (about 30 minutes from Spokane), this 1908 brick beauty has been meticulously renovated into a private home.
The former school sits on a 1.43-acre lot on Main Street, and is currently listed for sale for $749,000.
The building has a whopping 15,880 square feet with 5 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms.
Although renovated, the old school still has many original features including 12-foot-high ceilings, a 5-foot wide staircase of ebony finished fir, corbelled arches throughout, and original fir floors.
The home has two large family rooms which were originally classrooms, plus many other bonus rooms.
Look at those arches!
The kitchen and dining room are elegantly remodeled but notice the preserved built-in cabinet (above left).
This is no small galley kitchen – it has ample cabinetry and storage and plenty of room for all the mother-in-laws!
Additional rooms are bathed in light from the tall schoolhouse windows.
Formerly stalled bathrooms have been converted into luxurious loos.
The wide staircase still has the original ornate newel posts, railings, and balusters.
There are so many fabulous things about this old school from the arches and transom windows to the preserved blackboards.
One peculiar thing about this renovated beauty: it is missing baseboards in some of the rooms.
Apart from that omission, the home is immaculate.
Look at the gorgeous clawfoot tub situated in front of a large window:
Superb!
The old classrooms with exposed brick make for some rustic bedrooms.
This old building would make a great themed bed & breakfast!
A couple of rooms still need some finishing, but look at all the space…
And how can you not adore those old green boards?
French doors open dramatically to the attached gymnasium which features original solid maple floors, a raised theater stage, and an upper gallery that surrounds the gym with a view down onto the floor.
Below the gymnasium, there is a full daylight basement and shop space which includes four garage bays.
The former school building is zoned commercial so you could run almost any type of business from here.
Event center? Vacation rental? Kids camp? The possibilities are endless!

You’d need a lot of furniture to fill that house!
Lovely, I am pleased they have kept the black board/green boards. If the walls could only talk!!!!!
Love this, I’d only add a few fireplaces and finish up some obvious renovations. Love that they kept a lot of the character of the school.
The price is fantastic. Lately the cost of homes have become very expensive. Perfect place for a B and B..
