When you think of New Jersey, historic houses are not usually the first thing that come to mind, but there are some fabulous historic properties in this oft-overlooked state.
One fine example that recently went under contract is this country estate with a main house that dates back to the 1850s.
It is located on 3.35 acres in the idyllic hamlet of Mountainville in Tewksbury Township, New Jersey.
While the peaceful property is a haven for the weary, the historic parts of the home transport us back in time.
The formal dining room off the main front door remains true to the era of the home.
The living room decor is elegant and traditional.
Like most old houses, the home’s kitchen has been completely remodeled with every modern convenience.
That fire-engine red stove pops like smoochy lipstick in the otherwise neutral kitchen!
Beyond the kitchen, there is a newer family room addition with a wall of windows looking out over the landscaped yard.
So cozy and comfy!
There is also a large master bedroom suite in the newer part of the home.
Truly fit for a queen! (No men allowed in here!)
Back to the old part of the home… there are some great preserved features from the 1850s.
Like those gorgeously imperfect wide plank floors!
Below is a newer bathroom remodel, tastefully done…
Soaking in that tub under those lovely windows would be one of life’s simple delights.
The two bedrooms on the upper floor are traditional and tidy.
Off the back door of the home, you can access the outbuildings that complement the main house.
The listing price for all this New Jersey country charm is $875,000.
Not exactly affordable for the average Jersey-Joe, but you have to admit, this place is impeccable!
