Built in the year 1940, this unique Lubbock, Texas home stands out as a great example of the Moderne architecture style – which was an evolution of Art Deco design.
The current owners have maintained the home’s sleek styling and played up its vintage nature. They have also been cleverly using it as a vacation rental.
Lucky for us, The Tangerine Dream is up for sale for the very reasonable price of $240,000!
As the Historic Lubbock County Facebook page describes, Moderne architecture and design “discarded historical ornamentation and featured austere elements associated with train and ships of the period. Rounded corners, smooth surfaces and strong horizontal lines were key elements.”
Here is an old image of the home that was featured on the Historic Lubbock County page:
Now, let’s check out the fun interior…
The Tangerine Dream is not huge – it has only 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms in 1,310 square feet – but it feels a lot larger thanks to the clean lines and open spaces.
They sure love their shiplap walls in Texas!
The kitchen looks like it might have the original cabinets.
No room for a full-sized fridge? Not a problem in this house! Just throw in a vintage-inspired cooler (and microwave) for a pop of color in the corner.
One of the bedrooms has those port-hole windows, reminiscent of a ship’s cabin.
The larger of the 2 bathrooms has had some remodeling but still retains the original built-ins and heat vent.
Brick veneer as a shower backsplash? Why not?
As an older home (remember it was built in 1940) there is not a whole lot of closet or storage space in here.
But the fun roof-top patio on the Tangerine Dream makes up for the lack of storage space.
The backyard is also surprisingly large with some shade trees and a fire pit.
In case you are wondering, the Tangerine Dream comes fully furnished.
Any bites for this juicy morsel?
