House Crazy Sarah has featured historic bank buildings converted to homes before, but this one is a little different.
In a distinct departure from the quaint architecture of those ornate 1800’s classically-inspired bank buildings, this one is a mid-century 10,000 square foot run-of-the-mill office that some creative soul decided to give a contemporary/industrial makeover.
The result is a confusing mix of: my living room is literally in a bank lobby, and, my bedroom is a bank vault!
It’s just bizarre. But interesting to look at, so let’s indulge our curiosity.
This unusual dwelling is located in Winnsboro, Louisiana. Hardly a southern belle, this super-secure home has more of a New York industrial loft feel.
Built around 1950, this converted bank building now has 5 bedrooms 3 bathrooms.
It is currently listed for sale for $700,000!
This place has architect-designed features like a deconstructed open ceiling which creates the impression of massive space throughout the home.
The stainless steel kitchen is sleek and modern.
This building has been redesigned with two complete living spaces that can used as one, or can provide a separate private living area for guests.
Since this home is built in a former bank building, it comes with not one, but TWO bank vaults!
If you are concerned about safety and security, this fortified home would be a great choice.
The bathrooms are what might be called: industrial chic.
Below is the other bank vault door:
And here is the second kitchen:
There is also unfinished square footage on an upper level that could be completed for more living space, or office/studio space.
Out back of the building, there is ample parking so you could throw some big parties here.
It’s a fun building conversion, but a bit too cold and commercial for House Crazy Sarah’s taste.
But if you are looking to buy a truly unique & secure property, you can take this one to the bank.
All that’s missing, is the ATM! 🙂
