A Weekend In The Colorado Mountains

House Crazy Sarah was oot and aboot over the long weekend doing a “stay-cation” not too far from her house in the Colorado mountains.

She visited the cool town of Salida, which is known for its access to world-class white water rafting.

Salida, like much of Colorado, is opening up after a long period of being closed for quarantine.

Like a bear coming out of hibernation, the town is slowing getting moving again. (Not that there ever was a crazy pace of life – with a population of less than 6,000, Salida is a laid-back locale.)

Here is that famous river – the Arkansas – which runs right through the town:

All over Salida, you can see the town’s love for the river:

Also, the locals engage in some really funky yard art… it’s like a thing in Salida.

House Crazy Sarah stayed in this nifty 1950’s throwback motel:

It’s called The Circle R

The focal point was this old beauty:

But vintage bicycles were on display too…

In fact, guests can rent out these colorful bikes to ride around town.

The rooms at the Circle R were pretty basic but they had retro lamps and furniture.

Oh look – here’s our gal!

The Hyatt Regency it was not, but a fun motel experience nonetheless.

House Crazy Sarah also ventured over to Maysville, Colorado to check out this restored 1882 rural school house.

According to the sign, this school was in service until 1939.

Isn’t it gorgeous?

Finally, House Crazy Sarah traveled down the road to Buena Vista, Colorado to look at some adorable old houses.

And this lovely old small town church:

Even when she’s not allowed out of the state, House Crazy Sarah can always find some nice old things to look at!
