A New/Old Home For The Weary

House Crazy Sarah will be closing on this sweet little gem this week.

It has been a bruising road to get to this point, so you’ll have to forgive her for not posting as much this summer. She bid on no less than 5 houses and got outbid on every single one – even though she bid well above asking price!

Yes, the real estate market in Canada is just as hot as anywhere else – maybe even hotter! House Crazy Sarah was feeling down in the dumps and was about ready to give up when this craftsman cutie popped on the market.

It is located in a mid-size town in Northern Ontario, where House Crazy Sarah relocated in June of 2021.

The home was built in 1919 and is in excellent condition. Below is a photo from the listing:

House Crazy Sarah won’t show you interior photos until she is all moved in and unpacked but will give you a sneak peek at the outside of the house. This is the house from the backyard:

Yes it is COLORFUL er, COLOURFUL (in Canadian) inside and out and that is just fine with House Crazy Sarah. She was known in her last town in Colorado for having the most unique emerald green house – Little Green, as she called it.

Rather than calling this house Little Red & Yellow, she has come up with a great name for it, which she will reveal when she can post interior photos.

cottage charm

As you can see, this pretty girl has all the vintage charm that House Crazy Sarah adores and she can’t wait to get in and decorate with all her own furniture and pretty stuff!

But the road has been rough, oh boy, has it ever. Re-settlement in Canada included getting a new vehicle, starting a new job, finding new schools for the kids, doctors, dentists, veterinarians, and many, many other bureaucratic challenges.  Buying a house is just the latest task in the chaotic gauntlet of starting a new life.

But as she kept telling her mother, buying the RIGHT house was the most important piece for House Crazy Sarah and she could not be at peace until she found that elusive, special one.

She had a shot at this one because it is located on a busy road, but that didn’t scare her off. Although it seems like everyone in town knows “that adorable red & yellow house”, and can view it daily by driving by, the home feels quite cozy and private inside and has a gorgeous private backyard sanctuary – with a hot tub!

After having lived out of suitcases all summer long, House Crazy Sarah and her kids are eager to get moved into their very own place.

Because little else matters if you don’t have that haven of your own to call home.
